30 October 1955 - Argentine director Roman Vignoli Barreto's 'Chico Viola não morreu' premieres in Rio de Janeiro. It would take 3 months for it to be released in Sao Paulo.

29 January 1956 - I had only been 3 years since Francisco Alves' tragic death on the Sao Paulo-Rio Highway when Roman Vignoli Barreto shot 'Chico Viola não morreu' in 1955. Chico Viola, as Mr Alves was known was still in the news... Many would compare Chico Alves' popularity to that of Argentina's Carlos Gardel who had died in an airplane crash in 1936 and was still revered as King of Argentina 20 years later...
Carlos Gardel is still revered in Argentina in the 21st century... but Francisco Alves has disappeared from Brazil's collective memory as everyone else who was popular in the 30s, 40s, 50s etc. Brazil is a country with no memory whatsoever.
1st February 1956 - OESP's columnist reviews 'Chico Viola não morreu' and differently from other times he is indulgent with the flick.
