MC Renato Murce's radio show 'Papel Carbono' (Carbon paper) is in the midst of a competition to select the best act among new faces. The prize: a starring role in a film called 'Aí vem a alegria' (Here comes joy). Marly (Sonia Mamed) is a humble girl whose boy-friend Sergio (Sergio Roberto) is the leader of a musical combo. Her sisters Cecy (Evelyn Rios) & Lucia (Abigail Parecis) are her cheer-leaders. Marly is successful in the competition, finally defeating Tonico & Marina (Jackson do Pandeiro & Almira) who had come all the way from the Northeast.
Marly's victory upsets Lolita (Carmen Verônica), a temperamental show-girl who doesn't like competion. Lolita starts machinations to sideline the girl in cohoots with Sergio, Marly's treacherous sweetheart. Joel (Antonio Carlos), a studio truck driver finds out about the fiendish plot and tells Marly. A huge fight ensues with Lolita's henchmen trying to knock out Marly's friends. At the end, it seems, everyone become friends again.
